Ace Attorney Intro
CA: I first tried Ace Attorney through Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright.
CA: I was a Professor Layton fan first, and I wanted to see if Ace Attorney would be any fun for me.
CA: While a lot of fans of both series argue that the game is one of the weaker ones in both respective series, I had enough fun with it to give the Ace Attorney games a try afterwards.
CA: I started with Trials and Tribulations, the third game in the first trilogy because it was the one that was available to me at the local GameStop.
CA: I thought that I knew enough about the characters through cultural osmosis and my playthrough of PL vs. PW.
CA: I did miss quite a bit on my first time, since there were a lot of callbacks in that game in particular, but I had a great time!
CA: So much so that I decided to start from the beginning with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and play all the games that I could get my hands on.
CA: As of the time of writing, I have fully completed the Phoenix Trilogy, the Apollo Trilogy, the Chronicles Duology, and the first Investigations game.
CA: Like many others, I'm holding my breath for a potential Ace Attorney 7 game, but it's all quiet on the horizon so far.
CA: Still, until something new happens, we can all discuss the currently available games and write fanfic about Phoenix and Miles, so there's that.

CA: I started with Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations, and because it was the third game in the trilogy, Gumshoe was already very friendly to Phoenix Wright and company.
CA: Like many other detectives in fiction, he's a reference to Columbo, who has been very influential in the "detectives who are seemingly bumbling but who are competent at their jobs" genre.
CA: There are many other genres of detective, including "detective who is incredibly bad at their job," such as , "detective who is an ace at their job," such as Sherlock Holmes, and "detective who isn't technically a detective by job description, but it's close enough," such as the main character of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
CA: Dick Gumshoe (whose first and last names are both slang for "detective," by the way) mostly fits in the "detective who is bad at their job" category.
CA: Generally speaking, Gumshoe misses i
